How to Use the Gradebook
Set up grading scales, create assignments, and manage grades across your school.
Configure grading scales
Go to Settings → Grading and choose your school's grading system. Options include letter grades (A-F), numerical scales (0-100), competency-based, or custom scales. Set passing thresholds and GPA point values.
Create assignments
Navigate to Assignments and click "Create Assignment". Choose the class, subject, assignment type (exam, quiz, homework, project), due date, and total marks. Set whether it's summative (counts toward final grade) or formative (for practice).
Enter grades
Go to Gradebook and select a class. You'll see a spreadsheet-style grid with students as rows and assignments as columns. Click any cell to enter a grade. The system auto-calculates weighted averages.
Review grade analytics
View class-wide performance summaries, grade distributions, and student progress trends from the Gradebook analytics panel. Identify top performers and students who need attention.
Generate report cards
Go to Reports → Report Cards. Select the term and classes, then generate professional report cards with one click. Reports include grades, attendance, teacher comments, and behavior notes.
Share with parents
Grades are automatically visible in the Parent Portal. Parents see real-time grade updates for each subject without waiting for report card day.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use formative assignments for quizzes and homework so they don't impact the final grade.
- Configure grade weights (e.g., Exams 60%, Homework 20%, Projects 20%) in the gradebook settings.
- Run a test report card before distributing to parents to check formatting.
- Use the "Comments" field on report cards to add personalized teacher feedback.
